Today is the Day

I've always wanted to have a blog. I recently told my sister's sister in law she should start one to show off her art and I felt a little hypocritical for not having my own. I thought maybe I'll start one on New Year's day to start something new in 2011. Then I thought- there's no day like today so here it is, my very own blog to share my everyday secrets like how to make fresh spinach realllly good, how to get a week's worth of groceries for $9 and my favorite deals for goodies.

Really good spinach-
So anyone that knows me knows I'm resourceful and I like to squeeze more than use out of things. Today I made a delicious fettuccine with tomato sauce and topped it with fresh spinach and parmesan cheese- friggin amazing. The starchy pasta water tastes sooo good I didn't waste it. It's perfect for cooking the fresh spinach! When I drained the pasta I put a bowl in the sink with the spinach and let the boiling hot water fill the bowl. The water's  so hot it cooks the spinach perfectly, wilted but slightly crunchy, and it tastes salty and buttery. Viola! Delicious. Also, if you only have a little bit of tomato sauce left like I did add some water to the jar, shake and heat it in a small pot with butter sooooo good.

This semester I'm ,unfortunately, not rollin in the dough like when I worked at Swamp in Gville so I've had to be much more economical. No more lobster mac & cheese or crab cakes or eating out and I've switched to instant coffee- which I do not recommend- it tastes terrible but I bought it so I gotta use it. I figured out a way to buy a week's groceries for $9. 2 cans of Progresso soup, a 12- pack of Ramen, fiber one pop tarts, goldfish on sale for $1, box of seashells and spaghetti sauce. Pop tart for breakfast (w/ OJ I always have), pack of Ramen for lunch, and Steak and Veggie Stew topped with Goldfish for dinner. Walmart Markets are the best, I don't know how they sell food for that cheap. Publix bogo is awesome too.
